The 'How" isn't the Hard Part..

We are willing to go through difficult change for only TWO reasons.
Think about something big you’ve been wanting to change in your life.
- Job change
- Start a business
- Get in shape
- Get your time back
- Drink less coffee
Whatever change you want to make, there are LinkedIn posts, YouTube videos, books, podcasts, you name it. There are plenty of answers for HOW to do it.
Think about the change you want to make. You, right now, could most likely explain, in detail HOW to make that change.
So why don’t we do the work to make that change?
I heard this in a lecture on change theory and it has stuck with me.
We go through change for only 2 reasons, as change is uncomfortable and our brains seek comfort and want to return to homeostasis.
Reason 1 – The “Compelling Dream” factor
We pursue change when what we want is so big or important to us that we must do it.
Reason 2 – The “Discomfort” factor
Change becomes inevitable when the current status is so uncomfortable that we must take action to change it.
Change happens when we have a big dream or it hurts.
Either one works.
If it is somewhat comfortable right now and you want to make that change, then get yourself a big dream.
It can be helpful to work with someone, like a coach when developing that dream you're willing to fight for.
